Say no to Plastic !!

Somewhere batween 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. But less than 1% of bags are recycled. This is because the cost to recycle a bag is more expensive than to produce a new one. Do you know where do there go ?? Bags find their way into the sea via drains and sewage pipes. Over time they break down into smaller, more toxic petro-polymers. The impact will be on wildlife can be catastrophic. Nearly 200 different species of sea life including corals, whales, dolphins and turtles die due to plastic bags.

What should we do to save our grandchild's life ?

If we can use a cloth bag to replace the plastic bags ;
we can save about 6 bags a week ;
that's 24 bags a month ;
that's 288 bags a year ;
that's 22,176 bags in an average life time ;
If 1 million people did this we would save 22,176,000,000 bags over our life time.
Plastic shopping bags are made from polyethylene: a thermoplastic made from oil. Reducing plastice bags will decrease foreign oil dependency. China has banned plastic bags and will thus save 37 million barrels of oil each year. Canada, Kenya, South Africa, Singapore and many others world over have banned or are moving toward banning the plastice bags !!
So what are you waiting for , say NO to plastic bags. Only you can change your grandchild's life style in the feuture.
